Within the framework of the Horizon Europe program, the European Commission will finance a project co-developed by a research group headed by Prof. Dr. hab. Adriana Zaleska-Medynska.
Prof. Dr. hab. Adriana Zaleska-Medynska's team will receive about EUR 200,000 under the Horizon - RIA competition. The assumptions of the project "Innovative Integrated Tools and Technologies to Protect and Treat Drinking Water from Disinfection Byproducts (DBPs)" include the development of appropriate analytical techniques for monitoring DBPs and modeling their spread in drinking water systems, as well as assessing the environmental impact of DBP spread. In addition, the project will study the toxicity of DBPs and their impact on the environment and will propose a technology to remove DBPs and alternatively a technology to avoid their formation during water disinfection processes. The project will involve 18 partners and the project leader is the University of Coimbra.
